SEVERAL NEW vehicles are being displayed by Seddon Atkinson including the new range of 16-4onnens fully described in CM last week. Designated the 200-Series, the range is powered throughout by an International engine, the D358, which produces its 100kW (134bhp) at the relatively high speed, for a direct-injection engine, of 3,000rpm. A fivespeed Eaton gearbox is used in conjunction with a singlespeed, single-reduction axle again from Eaton. This is the first public appearance for this series of trucks.
Also a first timer at the Show is a sleeper-cab version from the recently introduced 400 Series. It has a 170kW (228bhp) Cummins engine and nine-speed Fuller Roadranger gearbox.
The standard cab model on display utilises a Rolls-Royce engine of 160kW (214bhp) coupled, as in the case of the Cummins unit, to a nine-speed Fuller box.
The eight-wheeler from the 400 Series range on show has a 6LXB Gardner engine and David Brown gearbox.
Last but not least from Seddon Atkinson is a 16-4on municipal vehicle fitted with a crew cab. This chassis is the firSt to be built with the optional Eaton five-speed geartox -and 356mm (14in) clutch. The high cab is designed to allow a 'seven-man crew to change into and ,out of wet weather clothing.
