AT the recent American Public Works Congress and Equipment Show in New York, Rootes Motors, Inc., New York, became the first British concern to exhibit there, and the vehicle displayed, a KarrierYorkshire gully-emptier, was the first British specialized municipal vehicle to be shown in the United States. No similar vehicle is made by American manufacturers, the usual gully-emptying method in America being by means of "orange-peel" buckets and an open lorry.
