THE protection afforded to Bradford Corporation in the fixing of fares on bus services was discussed during the hearing of an appeal in Leeds, on Monday. Mr. Samuel Ledgard, of Leeds, appealed against the fare fixed by the Yorkshire Traffie Commissioners in respect of part of two of his routes, which, it was argued, was not equitable and was higher than that charged by other private operators running into Bradford, The corporation denied that the protection given by Mr. Ledgard was inequitable. Because of differing conditions the necessity of protection varied, and the appellant's comparison with the protection given on other routes was said to be wholly misleading.. I Leeds Corporation also opposed the appeal.
