A LOW-PRICED dunking machine !at suitable for cleaning small items has been introduced by Dawson Bros. Ltd„ Gomersal, Yorks. It consists essentially of a tank holding the cleaning medium and a moving platform on which a basket holding parts to be cleaned is placed and dunked in and out of the liquid.
The Mini-Dunker, as the machine is known, is a compact self-standing unit needing no foundations. It is 2 ft. 4 in. wide by 2 ft. 4 in. back to front and 6 ft. 3 in. to the top of its air cylinder. Operation is by compressed air and work up to 70 lb. in weight and 9 in, in height can be handled. A I ft. 6 in. square basket is supplied with the machine. To use, the operator pulls a control switch and from then on the action is automatic. The platform lowers the basket into the liquid, fully immersing the work. On reaching the full length of the downward stroke, the platform automatically commences the dunking action.
A feature is that the work is fully surfaced on the upward stroke and fully submerged on the downward. This creates a turbulent, threshing action which scours and cleans all the surfaces of the components. To assist the cleaning action air from the cylinder is blown into the liquid as the basket descends into it.
Sole distributor for the U.K. is Drummond Asquith Ltd., King Edward House. New Street. Birmingham.
