RIGID loads over 90-ft. long will, it is understood, require the Minister of Transport's authority before they can be moved by road under new regulations, covering abnormal indivisible loads, to be laid before Parliament.
At the same time, it is expected to be laid down that loads between 50and 90-ft. long will require attendants and their passage will need to be notified to the police. The regulations will also cover maximum widths, and here it is expected that the present rule of over-20 ft. loads will continue to need the Minister's authority to be moved, and be banned on " normal" vehicles. Loads between 14and 20-ft. wide are likely to be brought under the Minister's control, requiring his authority before they can be moved; provision will also be made for the marking of projecting loads.
