Road Haulage Association •to launch its "Turn That Lorry Round" campaign a little over a year ago was that the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce had thought it worth while to make a comprehensive inquiry and study the results, said Mr. D. O. Good, chairman of R.H.A., at the annual dihner of the Association's West Midland Area at Edgbaston on Monday.
"This slogan has become the battlecry of the road haulage industry during National Productivity Year," he said.
Mr. Good concluded by saying that R.H.A. members had responded well to the campaign.
After referring to the responsibility of the R.H.A. tO exert its influence on industry in the achievement of sound discipline and in the acceptance of upto-date practices, Mr. D. E. Woodbine Parish, chairman of Bovis Ltd., and a member of the British 'Productivity Council, said that it would be necessary to double the volume of goods and services•in the next 20 years With very little increase in manpower if this country were to keep up with the international rate of production increase.
