This week on page 68 Gordon Crabtree talks about the virtues of cleanliness. Recently, while on a thousand-mile round trip, I was appalled at the condition of commercial vehicles. Mainly, these were ones used by own-account operators and, frankly, I felt they did little to enhance the companies' images. Not only were they filthy but some of the comments written into the dirt were far from complimentary.
Two days later, while on another trip, my eye was attracted to a Whitbread vehicle ahead of me. It was immaculately clean with highly polished metal work. Having overtaken the vehicle, I had a quick look in my rear vision mirror to ensure that it was safe to return to the nearside lane and was pleasantly surprised to note that the vehicle was sporting three LDoY finalist radiatdr. plaques. This is the kind of company and driver which helps to improve the image of goods vehicle operators. Cheers to Whitbread.
