" NO industry can build a healthy and increasing export trade on a crumbling domestic market, which is, and must be, the foundation stone of sound and progressive production." This statement was made by Lord Nuffield before he sailed to visit Nuffield distributors in New Zealand and Australia. "The latest Government instructions curtailing still further the number of cars and commercial vehicles to he released to the home market, will, in my opinion, militate against our national efficiency. If we are going to remain a competitive industrial nation in overseas markets, we must have greater freedom at home," Lord Nuffield continued.
