DENYING an allegation in a London newspaper that the Road Haulage Executive had " seized " the personal mail of private owners of haulage businesses transferred to the British Transport Commission, the Executive states:—
" In the case cited, it is true that a letter which proved to be personal was received with the ordinary business mail. It bore no indication that it was other than a normal business communication and was accordingly opened. When found to be personal it was promptly forwarded with other unopened letters to the person concerned. The suggestion 'of snooping' is a travesty of the truth."
