• Road transport in Germany increased its share of freight moved in 1971 to 21 per cent, from 19.2 per cent in 1970. Road ton-mileage rose from 23.3 per cent to 25.6 per cent.
This is revealed in the latest edition of Annual Bulletin of Transport Statistics for Europe, comparing the figures for 1971 with those of earlier years.

, The trend to road transport is continuing in other. countries than Germany, though it has noticeably slowed compared with a few years ago. Much of the statistical publication is concerned with railways and waterways; its tabulated figures include much of Europe, including the USSR.
