FOR using a 14-seat bus to carry a party to a cinema. Hugh Alastair Carmichael, Park Road, Ballachulish, was admonished at Oban Sheriff Court last week.
The Crown held that the vehicle had been used as a stage or express carriage without a licence. The defence claimed that the bus was used on a special occasion. The cost of the trip was shared equally between the passengers.
Finding the charge proved, Sheriff Chalmers could not agree that a visit to a cinema, which was open three days a week, was a special occasion.
