sitting at Carmarthen on Tuesday, suspended for two months the licence of a tipper owned and operated by E. G. Price and A. Price, haulage contractors. of Lampeter.
A traffic and driving examiner, Mr_ Herbert G. Davis, said that from the records he found that the vehicle had been operated well outside the conditions of the licence on agricultural requisites within 60 miles, and all goods within 25 miles. For a year this vehicle had been used exclusively for an asphalt company, which employed the driver and had paid Mr. Price 14s. an hour for its use.
Mr. Price said that until April, 1963. the vehicle had been working for the asphalt company in accordance with the licence. Then he had trouble with drivers and the company had suggested employing the driver. "I did not know 1 was doing wrong. Immediately I knew it was wrong I took the lorry back from the company and it has been fully employed since, driven by me, carrying fertilizers locally." Mr. Price added that the lorry had earned £1,900 in a year.
