HE presidential address to the Institute of Transport will be given on nday next by Mr. Frank Lem ass, teral manager of Coras Iompair eann, at the Institution of Civil gineers, Great George Street, London, V.I. This inaugural meeting of the titute starts at 5.45 p.m., for 6.15, and I include the annual presentation of ards by the retiring president, Mr. ith Granville. Among the recipients are: Mr. Anthony Bull, member of London Transport Board, for his paper on Metropolitan Railways; Mr. H. S. Reed, Western area manager of B.R.S. (parcels) Ltd., for a paper on a national parcels network; Mr. T. M. Glass, chief commercial and public relations officer of Edinburgh City Transport, for his thesis on public relations in road passenger transport; Mr. D. A. Quarmby. an assistant lecturer at Leeds
University, for a paper on public transport and urban planning; Mr. D. Wilson, assistant district superintendent, Trent Motor Traction Co. Ltd., for his paper on providing railway replacement services: and Mr. W. R. Fairhall, a trainee with the East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd., this being a graduateship examination prize.
The Institute's Award of Merit is to be given to Mr. A. R. Dunbad, a vicepresident and a member of British Railways Board, for his paper on "British Railways—the next stage".
