At the first annual meeting of the Ex-Officers Employment Bureau held on June •2nd, at Winchester House, the interesting statement was made that an organization called " The National Haulage Aasociation" is proposing, in two or three weeks time, to start a large transport company which would employ between 490and 500 demobilized officers and 4,000 other ranks. The venture is said to have the sympathy of the Ministries of Munitions and of Supplies:
It is proposed to 'givethe public an opportunity of investing, but 25 per cent, of the total profits would • be distributed amongst the staff. Ita was suggested that the pro, posed company should run the lorri-huaea instead of the L.G.O.C., but it re:mains to he seen whether the authorities will concur in this. It is tot quite clear whether the company is to be f-di the purpose of passenger and gooda transport; but if for passenger 'only, it may prove a serious rival of the present London traffic combine.
