In the light of the critical situation regarding passenger transport in London and its suburbs, an important development is the agreement concluded between the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen and the London and Provincial Union of Licensed Vehicle Workers. The object of the agreement
is to enable the two unions teller to'protect the interests of their members emplayed by the London combine of tram' ways, omnibuses and electrified railways. So far as London is concerned, the two unions have agreed, in the events, of a dispute with the employers, to call out all their members, but before a strike is decided, upon by either union it must notify the other with a view to the possibility of settlement by negotiation.
