LOADING and unloading bans proposed by Edinburgh Corporation are causing concern to the Traders Road Transport Association and the Road Haulage Association. At present only preliminary notice of intention has been
given by the Corporation but the bans will involve 19 stretches of City streets, some of them extensive, and the restrictions include prohibition of all loading and unloading from 8,30 to 9..15 a.m. and from 4.45 to 6 p.m. At a meeting on Tuesday the T.R.T.A. Edinburgh and Fife area decided to seek more information about the proposals and arrange a meeting with the Corporation. They are particularly anxious to get the proposed times reduced.
Meanwhile operators are awaiting the decision of the Secretary of State for Scotland on Glasgow's proposed bans, to which the T.R.T.A. is one of the official objectors.
