WAS GEORGE PEARSON, managing director of A and G Pearson Transport, uttering an evasive and suspicious "no comment" when asked about Daf Trucks' parts supply service Perish the thought! He was "unable to comment" because in more than 83,000 miles in we under a year his Daf had required no spares.
Far more mischievous manipulation of words occurre when a luckless BRS Press officer was conducting a representative of one of the les reputable newspapers round a big new depot.
"How much did this little lot cost?" asked the reporter.
"I wouldn't like to say," replied the Press officer, who apparently did not know.
Next day the newspaper reported: "'I wouldn't like to si how much this little lot cost,' a BRS spokesman said."
