FITTED to an Austin 5-ton forward-control oil-engined chassis, a special body has recently been completed by Marshall Motor Bodies, Ltd., Airport Works, Cambridge, and supplied to Messrs. Botwoods of Ipswich for BX Plastics, Ltd.
Of Cascalite resin reinforced with glass-fibre, the cab was produced by Cascalloid, one of the operator's subsidiary companies.
Having a flat floor of double-thickness softwood, the body is framed in light-alloy sections assembled by the squeeze-rivet method. The interior is lined on the sides and the bulkhead to a height of 3 ft. with light-alloy corrugated sections.
In one piece, the roof is of moulded Cascalite and similar material is used for the body panels, which are self-coloured. Rear closure is by means of a light-alloy roller shutter and a 2-ft. tailboard.
