has ordered 70 Leyland Cornet bus chassis through the Leyland subsidiary, Ashok Leyland LtcL, of Madras. These will bring the total of Comet buses operated by Punjab Roadways to nearly 450. Teak and aluminium composite bodies will be built by the operators, and have a seating capacity of 51.
A.E.C. ARTICS FOR BISCUITS: Two Mercury chassis have been ordered by Meredith and Drew Ltd., of Ashby-de-laZouche. They will operate in conjunction with three Scammell Univan semi-trailers with Scammell-type coupling, carrying biscuits from the Halifax factory to Hamilton in Lanarkshire, and returning with crisps.
A.E.C. IN SOUTH AFRICA: A total of 52 commercial vehicles has been ordered by A.E.C. Vehicles (S.A.) Ltd., of Johannesburg, comprising 12 Marshall six-wheel chassis, four Monarch tractive units, eight Mandator rigids and 16 Mandator tractive units, and 12 Mammoth Major eightwheelers.
MORE RELIANCES FOR AUSTRALIA: Another 28 A.E.C. Reliance single-decker bus chassis figure in a total of 76 chassis ordered through A.E.C. (Australia) Ply. Ltd.. of Sydney. The remaining vehicles will include 20 Mammoth Major six-wheel chassis, 20 Monarch four-wheelers and eight Marshall rigids.
BEDFORD DUPLE COACHES FOR MULLEYS: Mulleys Motorways Ltd., of Ixworth, Suffolk, has ordered five Duple
coach bodies, one for mounting on Bedford VAL chassis and four on Bedfon SB.13 chassis. These will be allocated tc associate companies as follows: W. A., 1 and A. Jolly (one); Combs Coaches Ltd (one); Robby's Coaches (Stowmarket (one); and Mulley Motorways (two).
