'THE British. Transport Commission 1. have lost their appeal against the addition of four vehicles to the A licence of Budleigh Transport, Ltd., Exeter. On Tuesday, Mr. N. L. C. Macaskie, QC., a member of the Transport Tribunal, giving their decision, said that the Western Licensing Authority's action was justified because of the strain that had been placed on the company.
As reported last week, the four vehicles concerned had been operated under B licence, but it was desired to place them under A licence so. that they could relieve the company's overworked A-licensed lorries.
Mr. Macaskie said that the appeal raised. no question of principle. The normal user of the A licence was almost like the conditions of the B licence, and there would be no material increase in the fleet's activities.
An appeal involving Border Engineering Contractors, Ltd., the Commission and others has beenpostponed -until December 1.
