Ir MST moves towards the dismember' ment of the Ulster Transport Authority have come this week with the U,T.A. confirmation that negotiations arc in progress for the formation of a new company. It is intended to take over the main engineering workshops and offices of the Authority at Duncrue Street, Belfast, and the U.T.A. is hopeful of the successful outcome of these discussions. The new company would be set up by Mr. Frank B. Ford. of Woodford, Cheshire. who would be its chairman. •
Mr. Ford, Who is sales director of Plaxtons Ltd., Scarborough, the coachbuilders; has for some weeks been engaged in discussions with Mr. W. Craig, the Northern Ireland Minister of Health and Local Government, who has special responsibility for Ulster development, and Mr. A. G. Algeo, the U.T.A. chairman. The modern works at Duncrue
Street, close to the Belfast city centre. are well equipped for all. classes of maintenance work and a staff of some 600 is at present employed there. Mr. Ford told The Commercial Motor this week that discussions are proceeding on various aspects, but actual plans for the project have not yet assumed a definite form.
