which , can be made into bearings to provide a self-lubricating bearing surface for rotating or reciprocating shafts are being madeby Crane Packing, Ltd., Slough, Bucks.
They have been given the name of Split-Curled Bearings and the strips are between 0.060 in, and 0.015 in. thick. The material comes in the form of a tape which is cut to the length required for the particular application and is installed within an undercut on the shaft or in the housing, the depth of the undercut being between one half and one third of the tape thickness.
