ACLAIM for alleged arrears of wages may be made on McNamara and Co., Ltd. (now nationalized), by drivers whom the company formerly employed on Post Office contracts. The liquidator has approached the Road Haulage Executive and the Post. Office on the question of joint action to resist the demand, if it be pursued.
The men's complaint that they had been underpaid was reported exclusively in "The Commercial Motor" on March 18, 1949.
The liquidator states that a compromise has been reached with the British Transport Commission on the subject of balancing charges and an application will be made to the Board of Inland Revenue.
The company's agreement with the B.T.C. is expected shortly to be referred to arbitration.
