FROM America it is announced that for the first time in its history the Cleveland Tractor Co. is placing on the
market a wheeled tractor. This is known as the General and is a threewheeler for row-crop work, mounted on rubber tyres. It is powered by a Hercules four-cylindered engine with a governed speed of 1,400 r.p.m.
The layout_is extremely simple, a tubular member connecting the front and rear ends, and the engine and transmission being mounted in a high
c16 clearance chassis. With slight modificalien, the basic units are available in a track-laying. type machine, which has the standard Cletrac steering.
The crawler model is made in two styles, one for orchard work and the other for cultivating, with high clearance, and there should be an excellent opening for both in market-garden and fruit-farming districts. The wheeled tractor is sold to handle a single-furrow 16-in. plough (equivalent to a doublefurrow plough in Britain) and the crawlers (Which are slower moving) to handle two furrows. Cletracs are handled in Great Britain by BlawKnox, Ltd., Clifton House, Euston Road, London, N.W.1.
