RDESPONDING to the almost unanimous opinion of local authorities in their operating area, Ribble Motor Services Ltd. and three other bus companies are to ban smoking in the lower saloons of double-decker buses when they are on stage services. The ban will take effect from June 5.
. Mr. George Brook, Ribble's general manager, emphasized that the prohibition would apply only to the lower saloons of double-decker. stage-carriage vehicles, so that smoking will still he permitted in the upper saloons and in all parts of single-decker buses and coaches.
