A BUS for the use of patients of the In. Staunton Harold Home in Derbyshire, the largest of the famous " Cheshire Homes," was handed over by Mr. R. J. Entry, chairman of the Trent Motor Traction Co., to the Mayor of Derby, Alderman C. E. J. Andrews, on Tuesday.
The bus is a gift of the Trent company, and the necessary modifications to suit the special needs of the patients, nearly all of whom are wholly or partly paralysed, have been carried out by members of the Trent staff in their own time.
Among other things, a 15-ft. ramp was constructed and the rear end of the vehicle modified to take double doors to provide easy access for invalid carriages.
Several manufacturers supplied materials free of charge and to complete the service drivers of the Trent company will mart the bus without payment.
