AUSTRALIAN lubricating equipment made by C. C. Macnaught Pty. Ltd. and Sagas Manufacturing Co. Ltd. is marketed in the U.K. by this concern. Grease guns are made by Sagar, whilst the Macnaught equipment consists of a grease-gun filler and three models of hand-operated pumps for use with oil drums.

There are four types of Sagas grease gun —the Model E air-power-operated unit and three hand-operated models. The Model E is supplied with a carrying container and two spare grease cylinders. These tit directly to the bottom of the gun body, the air connection being through the handle. The pump mechanism is brought into action by squeezing a trigger and has a power factor of 84 to 1, providing lubricant pressures of more than 10,000 p.s.i.

Two side-lever grease guns are the Model C.A. and L.S. and these also give pressures at the nozzle of up to 10,000 p.s.i. The C.A. has a cast-iron head and steel body and other parts, whilst the L.S. has a light-alloy head with replaceable steel high-pressure cylinder and gland and other parts in light alloy. The latest addition to the Sagas range is the " 150" grease gun which is for one-handed operation, the side lever being squeezed by the fingers. This gun is rated to give 8,000 p.s.i. at the nozzle, but it is reported that pressures of more than 10,000 p.s.i. have been obtained.

The Macnaught grease-gun filler has a plunger-type pump which fits into a cover suitable for locating on a 28-lb. grease keg. A follower plate fits over the suction tube to prevent cavitation with heavy greases and the outlet tube can be adjusted up and down. All types of grease gun can be filled with the equipment. The oil-dispensing pumps are designed to fit into the bungs of standard oil drums; all three are operated by band levers and all have different capacities per stroke.
