GRANTING the applications of two coach companies to operate Continental tours from the West Country, the Traffic Commissioners at Bristol last Friday hinted that if operators did not develop this type of traffic they would go out of business.

The first applicant was Hellen Coaches, of Eastville, Bristol, who asked for a licence to operate eight Continental tours at cheaper rates -than those generally offered, ranging from £15 for an all-in, four-day Paris holiday to £48 6s. for a 15-day, inclusive tour of France and Italy.

Fry's Continental 'Coaches, Ltd.; Stratton on the Fosse, near Bath, opposed, but made an application themselves to introduce picking-up points on Continental tours at Bristol, Chippenham, Trowbridge, Bradford-on-Avon, Warminster, Melksham and Devizes.

Both applications were opposed by Greenglade's Tours, Ltd.
