IMPROVEMENTS in the construction I of distributor-type fuel-injection pumps are shown in patent No. 873,400. The chief feature is that injection is advanced automatically as the pressure of the fuel increases. (Robert, Bosch G.m.b.H., 4 Breitscheidistrasse, Stuttgart-W., Germany.)
Referring to the drawing, a single axial plunger (not shown) carries a cam which produces four strokes per revolution when rotated, as it is in contact with four fixed rollers (I).The angular posi Lion of these rollers therefore controls the timing of the injection.
The ring (2) carrying the rollers can be advanced or retarded through a small angle. This movement is created by a small pin (3), eccentrically mounted in a short shaft (4).
This shaft can be rotated by a springloaded hydraulic piston inside the cylinder (5). The piston is subject to the pressure of the fuel-supply pump and as this rises with an increase of speed. so the injection advances.
