Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A Large Organization with Headquarters at Bristol.

WHEN a representative of The Commercial Motor called recently on Mr. W. J. Green, the manager of the Cheltenbam depot of the Bristol Tramways anti Carriage Co., he found him enthusiastic about the prospects for the coming season.

" As you know," said Mr. Green, " Cheltenham is one of England's beauty spots, and this summer, amongst the numerous visitors which the district always attracts are several public bodies, for whom we are arranging

special transport. Yes, we are anticipating a very busy season, and we have a new fleet of Bristol 40 h.p. coaches coming along to cater for it."

"The number of vehicles ? " we queried.

" It depends," said Mr. Green, "entirely on the volume of traffic. The advantage of a large organization like ours is the ability of one depot to help another out, and for the headquarters to reinforce the depots where necessary. It has also advantages from the point of view of spare part supplies, and so on, of course, as all our machines are standardized. Incidentally, the colour scheme is also, which is, in its way, a good advertisement, as people get to know the coaches by their colour. Last year, for instance we had on one occasion no fewer than 36 coacbss

together, all of the same type and colour, on -a trip up the Wye Valley, and they made a fine display.", "What is the longest trip you run ? we asked.

"Last summer we did a trip to Bournemouth and back, 300 miles in the one day," was the reply. "What other places do you run to ? " " Malvern Stratford-on-Avon, The Cotswolds, Weston-super-Mare, and so on. Take this booklet."

Mr. Green produced a neat and well. illustrated guide. "This describes 50 popular char-hbanes trips from Cheltenham and Gloucester. We have, of course, another depot there. These guide books are given to visitors, distributed in the local hotels, and so on."
