IN HIS FIRST annual report, Mr Robert Gale, Cumbria's consumer protection officer, says his department examined 6,058 vehicles : 642 were weighed, 109 being sufficiently seriously overloaded to justify prosecution.
"Of these, 19 were so overloaded as to constitute an immediate public danger and were put off the road until their loads were reduced to comply," he says.
