rOLLOWING an approach by the Road Haulage Association, the Scottish Development Department has ;aid that although six days is the notice torrnally required in advance of tbnormal load movements routed over he new Forth Road -Bridge, shorter lotice can be accepted in cases of :•mergency.
The S.D.D. has also confirmed that ibnorrnal loads are subject to the same oil as other vehicles, i.e., 2s. 6d. for each motor vehicle. For a load with several :ractors the charge would therefore presumably be 2s. 6d. for each.
This contrasts with the charge made or abnormal loads using the Dartford Tunnel, where a special toll of £5 is [imposed for outfits exceeding the normal maximum dimensions. It is understood that the R.H.A. is examining this matter. More than half the commercial fleet users )f the tunnel are using prepaid tickets.
