A N exhibition emphasizing the risk of serious accidents in the use of lifting tackle and the steps which can be taken to avoid them was opened on Wednesday at the Industrial Health and Safety Centre, Horseferry Road, London, S.W.1. This exhibition is to be a permanent feature at the Centre and deals with all aspects of lifting gear. Good and bad practices are demonstrated and the latest available tackle will be shown.
The opening of this exhibition coincided with the inaugural meeting of a technical committee of the International Standards Organization which has been set up to prepare international standards for lifting gear. The meeting was held at the British Standards Institution, in London.
