THIS is an important Scottish Show I for Dodge as it is the first time the company has exhibited since it joined Commer and Karrier in the Rootes_ Group commercial vehicle division. The latest development in this connection is that, as announced elsewhere in this issue, the Dodge commercial vehicle range has been expanded into the medium-weight classes by the inclusion of certain Commer models. The main feature by Dodge at the Show, however, is the new 500 Series range and four examples can be seen on the two stands.
Dealing first with the Commer models now marketed also by Dodge, these consist of the Walk-Thru 30-cwt., 2and 3-ton vans and 4-. 5-, 6and 7-ton forward-control chassis. A WaIk-Thru 1-5-tonner is displayed on the Dodge stand, whilst a 7-ton tipper is featured by Moodie and Co.
Also on the Dodge stand are a KT900 22-ton gross six-wheeler with doubledrive bogie and a KP900 tractive unit for 24 tons gross train weight. Both of these are powered by Chrysler/Cummins V8 diesel engines. There is also a sectioned Chrysler/Cummins V6 diesel. The two Dodge 500 Series models displayed by Moodie are four-wheel rigids. One is a K1100 for 16 tons g.v.w. with a V8 engine, the other a K800 12-ton gross machine powered by a Perkins 6.354 diesel engine.
