COUNCILLOR HUGH LEE, a member of the transport committee of Manchester Corporation, has been nominated as next Lord Mayor of the city.
MR. ROBERT C. TURNER has been appointed sales manager of J. Payen, Ltd., the well-known concern of gasket manufacturers, . of 228, Berwick Avenue, Slough.
Mn. FREDERICK GRAINGER, who has been with Titanine, Ltd., the wellknown manufacturer of paints, varnishes, lacquers and special aircraft
finishes, for over 20 years, has resigned his directorship and is no longer associated with the company.
MR. E. HALLAm, A..C.I.S., secretary to United Automobile Services, Ltd., has terminated his employment with the company, and MR. R. G. Warr, chartered accountant, has been appointed in his place.
SIR CLIVE L. BAILLIEU, K.B.E., C.M.G., has been appointed deputy chairman of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd. SIR J. GEORGE BEHARRELL, D.S.O.; will continue as chairman; assisted by Sir Clive, who has been a director of the company since 1929, and is president of the Federation of British Industries. He has just resigned the chairmanship of Fairey Aviation. It is interesting to note that this is the first time that the Dunlop concern has made such an appointment.
MR. CHARLES TENNYSON, C.M.G., secretary of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., was among :those knighted this week. He receives the honour in recognition of his work as chairman of the Central Institute of Art and Design, and the National Rtgister of Industrial Art Designers, in bfinging designers into touch with industry for the improvement of standards at home and exports abroad. Sir Charles, who is a grandson of the poet, was deputy director of the Federation of British Industries before joining the Dunlop concern in 1928.
