ABEDFORD long-wheelbase 7-tonner, with chassis modified by Prestage, Ltd., Suffolk Street, Birmingham, 1, upon which is mounted a IVIagirus 100-ft. turntable ladder, will be shown at the Fire Officers' Conference at Torquay from September 27October 1. The vehicle has bodywork by .Wilsdon and Co, Ltd., 15-17 Park Road, Solihull.
It is claimed to be the first of its class to have such equipment, and is one of four new Bedford models to be displayed at the conference. The others are an appliance with a Prestage dropframe and a 1,000 g.p.m. pump mounted amidships, a water tender by Alfred Miles, Ltd., Carlton Street,
Cheltenham, based on a 4-ton chassis, and a Dormobile high-top twostretcher ambulance built by Martin Walter, Ltd., Folkestone.
Six other models will be exhibited. One will be a four-wheel-drive emergency appliance built for the Home Office, and another a towing vehicle by Hampshire Car Bodies, Ltd., Totton, Southampton. A B-type emergency !ender and a water tender by this concern will also be on view.
A light ambulance body built on the 10-12-cwt. chassis by Herbert Lomas, Ltd., Handforth, Wilmslow, near Manchester, and a Prestage drop-frame appliance with a Dennis 500-g.p.m. pump will complete the range.
