THE Road Haulage Association are to issue T.I.R. carnets to hauliers under the Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods (The COMmercial Motor, December 4). It will come into force on January 7.
It facilitates the transport of goods by road vehicle, trailer or container under sealed cover from Britain to Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, West Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland. The fee, if one country is to be visited, is £1, or LI 5s. if the vehicle is to pass through One or more countries in transit.
