FURTHER wage awards for certain classes of transport employee have been pressed for by the Transport and
General Workers' Union. .
Workers employed in the distribution of petroleum have had the following weekly increases:—Adult males, 5s.: youths of 18-20, 35. 3d.; youths under 18, 2s. 6d, For females, new hourly increases are:—Adults, id.: girls of 1820, W.; girls under 18, d. The new rates date from March 29.
For transport workers in thedrapery, outfitting and footwear trades, the following weekly increases have been proposed:.—Light-vehicle drivers under 18, 4s.; 18-21, 6s.:. drivers of vehieles Over 1-ton carrying capacity, 9s.
a26 In thefood trade, proposals for weekly increases for drivers of vehicles of up to 1-ton capacity are:—Under 18, 4s. 6d.; 18-20, 55. 6d.; 21 and over, 7s. 6d.; all other transport workers, 7s. 6d.
