cost of living would be raised, employment reduced and Britain's opportunities in the export markets adversely affected by the Transport Bill, said the Central Committee of Transport Users, in a statement issued last week-end.
The Committee pointed out that there was no assurance that the user would be free to select the most suitable form of transport and there was a great danger that efficiency would be subordinated to the convenience of the transport monopoly. Any restriction on the right of ancillary users to operate their own vehicles cut arethe roots of efficiency of factories and distributive organizations.
.After referring to the vague terms of the Bill, the Committee criticized the absolute powers to be conferred on the Minister of Transport and the scope A24 allowed for political pressure to be exerted upon thetommission.
The Committee stated that it represented the overwhelming majority of users of all forms of inland goods transport.
