at present existing between East Midland Motor Services, Ltd., and municipal and other operators, new pooling arrangements are being considered. The joint committee of representatives of the L.N.E. and L.M.S. railway companies and East Midland Motor Services, Ltd., is also planning to extend road-rail co-ordination.
This announcement was made by Mr. W. T. James, 0.8.E., chairman of the East Midland concern, at the company's general meeting on Wednesday (December 18). He severely criticized the Transport Bill as it affects passenger-vehicle operators, and said that, as bus services are controlled by experienced managements with a knowledge of local traffic requirements, it was difficult to see how the public could be better served by a nationalized system " It may well be," Mr. James said, "that the Government will come to realize that nothing i5 to be gained by jettisoning the present system and adopting a form of State monopoly."
