1DIECAUSE of the danger of vehicles sliding on to an adjoining railway line, heavy tankers and lorries are now banned from using the Wellington Road car park at Eccles, Lancs. A larger, level alternative site in the centre of the town at St. Georges Street, off Barton Lane, has been provided by Eccles highways committee. Approval for the use of the new 250-ft. by 150-ft. site was given earlier this week.
The sloping Wellington Road site was popular for overnight parking, but on one occasion a heavy tanker slipped down the railway embankment and trains had to be halted until the vehicle was towed

clear. The St. Georges Street park, which is near the town hall, is the only municipal parking area on which heavy commercial vehicles are now permitted. Parking is free.
Hull Lorry Parks: Hull Corporation is making a big drive to find more parking places for commercial vehicles, and parks may be established at the Walton Street fairground, the railway dock area and the Park Street TA. Barracks, The town planning officer, Mr. H. F. Alston. is also being asked to report on the availability of existing surface car parks for use by commercial vehicles. In October. Mr. Alston said that, of 10,000 vehicles parked ont of doors in Hull at night, 1,269 were commercial types.
