AHAULIER who used his lorry after its licence had expired was fined a total of £30 at West Bromwich fast week. He was George William Baker, King Street, Bradley, who admitted six offences and was fined £5 on each one.
Mr.-.M. P. Pugh, prosecuting for the West Midlands Licensing Authority, said the licence expired on April 30, last year, and no application for a renewal was sent in. Baker did not reply to a reminder on October 15 and on January 20 he was interviewed by a traffic examiner. In explanation he said he was waiting to be notified how much the licence fee was before sending in his application.
Mr. Pugh submitted that, as an experienced operator, Baker should have been aware of the procedure. It was stated quite clearly on the application form that fees should not be sent with it.
Baker was ordered to pay £4 4s. costs.
