pLANS for converting stretches of canal in the centre of Glasgow into roads are being discussed by the corporation and the British Transport Commission. It is proposed to fill in parts of the Forth and Clyde Canal to provide a line for the first section of an east-west arterial road from Alexandra Parade to Great Western Road.
