LABOUR shortage was forcing farmers to employ hauliers to do work which they once did themselves, Mr. Maurice Hughes, a Middletown farmer, told the West Midland Deputy Licensing Authority last week.
He was supporting an application by Mr. J. Swain, of Middletown, to add another vehicle to his fleet. Mr. Hughes said that production was hindered by difficulties in obtaining transport, The Authority licensed the vehicle to carry livestock and agricultural products within a 20-mile radius.
