r-INE of the principal exhibits to be
featured by Rubery, Owen and Co. Ltd., at the International Construction Equipment Exhibition to be held at Crystal Palace from June 25 to July 5 will be an 8-ton low-loading trailer, the design of which, it is claimed, can cut to three minutes a loading job which would take up to an hour by traditional methods. Also to be exhibited will be a Tirfor 30-cwt. winch attachment incorporating a single sheath which permits it to give a 3-ton pull.
The trailer has been designed for carrying earth-moving equipment and similar types of machinery, but it is suitable for many other uses and could, for example, be used by garages for the recovery of broken-down vehicles. When loading, the vehicle or equipment moves up a fixed ramp and onto the trailer platform until the operator feels the plat_ form start to tip. The vehicle is then inched slowly forward until the platform is fully down, whereupon the platform is locked in position. The trailer can be hauled by any vehicle of over seven tons capacity, subject to it being fitted with suitable drawbar and trailer-brake equipment.
