AN Air Ministry memorandum to all Commands, laying down the probedure in the arrangement of leave coach services, was quoted by Mr. Alex Robertson, Scottish Deputy Licensing Authority, in Dundee last week. He was hearing an application by Mr. John P. Williamson, of Gauldry, for permission to run buses from the R.A.F. station at Leuchars. Fife, to Newcastle, York, Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester for the 3enefit of airmen going to their homes 3n leave,
The application was opposed by W. Alexander and Sons, Ltd., British Railways and Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd. It was stated that rail facilities did not illow airmen sufficient time at home on ;bort-period passes.
The only supporting witness was a :orporal. A flying officer briefed to Mend when the application was made lad been posted in the meantime, and mother officer detailed to attend had aeen called on for flying duties at the ast moment.
Mr. Robertson said that the memo-andum stated that importance was ittached to the necessity of the officer !nen ding a hearing to be in a position .o speak authoritatively. It was :onsidered that normally the station tdministrative officer would be best itted to attend.
The application was withdrawn neanwhile, as was a similar one by :astern Roadways, Anstruther, for 'acilities from the R.A.F. camp at eknstruther.
