London the deputy Metropolitan Licensing Authority last week dismissed an application in the absence of the applicant, Mr. J. Walsh, of Aveley, Essex. Miss E. Havers said she represented a number of objectors to Mr. Walsh's application for five A licences in respect of vehicles carrying meat and frozen foods.
"One of my objectors has come all the way front Southampton which is considerably farther than Aveley. It's a pity that Mr. Walsh could not make the journey," she said. Mr. F. Fisher, representing British Railways, who were also objecting, also expressed disappointment to Mr. Walsh's nonattendance.
He said the application had been adjourned at an earlier hearing "because Mr. Walsh made an accusation against what I said then. I now have evidence to prove I was correct".
The deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. C. J. MacDonald: "He accused you of perverting the truth among other things. I adjourned the case so that Mr. Walsh could bring along his customers to give evidence. I don't see any customers here today. This case gives me a little concern. The application is dismissed in the absence of the applicant."
