AN interesting experiment now being staged by London Transport is the operation of 100 buses equipped with Firestone tubeless truck/bus tyres. These buses, based at Hounslow and Hampstead depots, will be on routine service. London Transport experimented with tubeless tyres as long ago as 1958, when 12 buses were fitted with Firestone equipment.
The tyres selected by um for this experiment are 10-22.5, with 14 ply rating on the front and 10 ply rating twins on the rear.
